REGISTRATION:
The Colorado Department of Human Services will update the training schedule on a regular basis. Please visit the website often for the most recent class offerings.
You will receive a confirmation e-mail from Central Registration immediately after you register for a class that states whether you are enrolled or wait listed.
You will receive a Training Information e-mail from the Training Agency before the class session with details of time, location, and other instructions.
  • If you are placed on the wait list, you must keep the class date open on your calendar.
  • You will be automatically enrolled in the class and notified by e-mail if space becomes available.
  • It is possible that you will be notified about your enrollment up to the day before the class.
  • If you find that you can’t keep the wait list date open you must submit a drop request as soon as possible.

You can only enroll for one class and can only be on one wait list for the same class title.
Prior to a training, you will receive a Training Information e-mail from the Training Agency before the class session with details of time, location, and other instructions.
If you can’t attend a training, you must submit a drop request as soon as possible prior to the start of the class.
  • All requests to change or drop a class must be completed online in My Account.
  • You will be notified by Central Registration when these changes have been processed.

Participants who are required to pay a fee will remit the fee directly to the Training Agency delivering the training.

CANCELLATIONS & NO SHOWS:

In an effort to deliver statewide Child Welfare training in a cost-effective manner, we track and document many aspects of training delivery. One of these components is the tracking of “No Shows. No Shows are costly because they do not allow sufficient time to contact staff on the wait list, which results in classes being conducted at less than capacity. Therefore:

A training participant will be considered a No Show if the participant does not cancel in advance or fails to attend without notice.

A letter identifying No Shows will be sent to the appropriate agency or county supervisor.

LODGING:

Reimbursement for Lodging is only available to County Employees and County Foster Parents.
Lodging the night before training is only available to participants who travel over 120 miles each way. Participants who have over 5 hours of normal drive time to return home may be provided lodging for the night after training. This doesn't apply to training that begins in the afternoon or early evening.
To qualify for lodging during a training that exceeds one day, participants must travel over 70 miles each way.
Lodging is paid in full for participants who choose double occupancy and room with another participant.
Participants who want their own room or who request a smoking room that causes them to have a single occupancy room must pay 50% of the room cost at check out.
If bad weather causes road conditions to become dangerous, training participants’ stays may be extended for safety reasons. This decision will be made by the training provider.

PER DIEM:

Reimbursement for Per Diem is only available to County Employees. County Foster Parents are not eligible to receive Per Diem
Original, itemized receipts with the date and time that show menu items purchased are now required. Credit card charge slips with only total amounts that don’t show menu items are not acceptable. Alcohol is not reimbursed! Only the actual amount paid for a meal will be reimbursed up to the area per diem amount. No itemized receipt means no reimbursement.
Per Diem does not apply to Foster Parents. They will receive mileage and hotel accommodations only.
Continental breakfast is provided so there is no breakfast per diem.
Reimbursement will not be made for any meal provided as part of training. All other eligible meals are reimbursed. At agency discretion, a breakfast allowance may be paid if you have to leave before 5:00am in order to reach the training site and a dinner allowance may be paid if you return home after 8:00pm.

TRAVEL:

Reimbursement for Travel is only available to County Employees and County Foster Parents. All other training participants must apply to their respective agencies for reimbursements.
Mileage is paid at the rate of .46/mile.
Carpooling is required for all employees from the same agency attending the same training. Participants should carpool even when one participant stays at a hotel and another drives back and forth to training. If participants choose to drive separate vehicles only the participant registering first for the training will be reimbursed.
Participants must travel a minimum of 25 miles each way per day in order to receive reimbursement for mileage.
Mileage begins at the primary office where the participant works and ends at the training site. For Foster Parents the primary office is their home.
Airline travel may be provided for mandatory classes from late fall through early spring and in inclement weather conditions for participants from Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma, San Juan and San Miguel counties only. Central Registration must make airline ticket reservations for all county employees. Arrangements must be made with a minimum of 21 days advance notice so that the lowest cost fare with advance purchase may be obtained. Last minute arrangements will not be considered.
Reimbursement forms should be completed at the training site. If the trainee takes the form with them they must return it to Centralized Registration within 30 days of the end of training or they will not be reimbursed.
