This three hour training is designed for child welfare professionals working with foster, adoptive and kinship parents. Using the "Active Visiting Model" approach, practitioners will build skills in problem solving regarding family and child issues of concern. Explored are the best practice approaches to relationship building, teaching and skill development for resource families, structured homework assignments, efficient record keeping for home visits, identification of red flags and interventions to promote stability of the placement and child safety. Handouts include a dozen tools to copy and use when working with families.
