Description:
This is the second of a four-part, competency-based Core Curriculum for new Child Welfare Caseworkers. This 4-day module will address the knowledge and skills required for caseworkers to provide services related to family preservation and the protection of abused, neglected, and sexually abused children. This module will stress the importance of proper case planning to assure timely, high quality services to families, and will present casework as the preferred intervention method to promote family preservation and positive change. Topics covered will include: collaboration with community agencies and practitioners, strategies to engage family members and empower families, and the effects of cultural differences in the development of a casework relationship. Caseworkers will also learn effective communication and assessment techniques. Prerequisites: Computer Based Training; Using Colorado Trails for Child Welfare; New Worker Core 1
